We provide emergency care services across Suffolk, by supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism that are in crisis. We provide these services both in the community and from our respite service in Ipswich.
The Role
Your working hours will 07:00-21:00 three days a week.
Within this role, you will support adults who are considered to be in crisis.
You're required to have 2-years of professional support work experience with challenging behavior.
We provide full face-to-face training for all new members of the team and regular update training. This includes Positive Behaviour Support, Restraint, basic life support, manual handling, and medication, as well as other mandatory training.

Location
Our service is based in Ipswich, IP2. Due to the nature of the work, it is essential to have a valid UK driving licence and access to your own transport to access areas in and around Ipswich.
Job Purpose
The purpose of our team of support workers is to support and care for adults with learning disabilities and autism who are in crisis. The role includes de-escalation and assisting the person to return to their normal level of care. This can mean working in challenging and dynamic circumstances.
Therefore, successful applicants will need to be highly confident and competent support workers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Build relationships of trust with colleagues, partner organisations, and service users.
- Having a thorough understanding of care planning and risk assessment.
- Comprehensive report writing.
- Spend time getting to know and understand the people we support.
- Engage in activities that enhance the lives of those we care for.
- Help colleagues and residents to have the best day possible.
- Prepare and assist with meals.
- Administer/Prompt medication.
- Assist with all elements of personal care.
- Support the people we care for to engage in activities of their own interests.
- Pursue greater professional competence through training and qualification.
- Share ideas that will enhance the service level.
- Maintain excellent levels of house hygiene.
- Protect the people we care for by sharing concerns and following safeguarding protocol.
